- Kentucky Common is one of three or four beers indigenous to America. This beer style is sometimes referred to as “Common” or “Dark Cream Ale” and originated in the 1800’s in the Louisville area of Kentucky. The beer was the most popular style in that area until Prohibition in 1919.
The corn provides both sweetness and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. The low bitterness from the hops is balanced to the bready, toasty malt profile.
